Harcum Fashion Show 2023!

(May 5, 2023) -- Harcum College held an incredibly successful fashion show on April 28, showcasing the outstanding talent and creativity of its students. The event, which took place in the college's beautifully decorated Klein Hall, was attended by over 200 people, including students, faculty, and community members. The fashion show featured unique collections designed by the college's budding fashion designers. Each collection exhibited a diverse range of styles, from avant garde to streetwear, highlighting the students' versatility and innovation. Celebrity stylist Kree Willyumz was Master of Ceremonies, and brought a joyful energy to the evening.

One of the most striking collections of the evening was designed by senior student, Layla Laboy, who drew inspiration from love and heartbreak. Her futuristic garments, crafted from leather, lace, and quilted cotton, wowed the audience. Briana Ruffin’s collection of 1990’s inspired resort wear in delicious tropical colors was a crowd favorite, and Arty Bryan blended historical influence with streetwear, showcasing the endless possibilities within the realm of fashion design. First-year student Armani Saunders won the Rising Star award, and Layla Laboy was awarded the Future of Fashion.

The event was not only a platform for students to present their work, but also an opportunity for them to gain valuable experience and build a network in the fashion industry. The event was produced by Angela Edmunds of The Philadelphia Garment and Textile Industry Task Force and fashion designer Prajje Oscar, both of whom are professors in the fashion department. Many members of the local fashion and entertainment community were in attendance and the show was juried by Aunyea Lachelle of NBC10 Philadelphia artist, producer, and influencer Ming Paris Leone; and Akin Bethea, renowned stylist and image consultant.

The fashion show was a shining testament to the hard work and dedication of Harcum students and faculty. Faculty and students alike are already looking forward to next year's show, which promises to be just as remarkable and inspiring as this year's event. With such a successful fashion show under their belts, there is no doubt that Harcum College's Fashion Departments will continue to nurture and produce talented designers for years to come.
